World swimming championships: Martinenghi is a double Silver!
Spectacular performance of Nicolò Martinenghi at Doha 2024, narrowly missing out on gold medals in both the 100-meter and the 50-meter breaststroke.
“One of the best races of my life” says Nicolò Martinenghi from the World Swimming Championships in Doha, where he was the protagonist with a double silver. “I've been wanting to win in the 50 for a few years now and I'm always missing a few hundredths. I'm very happy, I did one of the best races ever. Doing 26.3 is something really important and it gives me a lot of confidence. I made a few mistakes, I had a bit of a hole at the start and the finish wasn't perfect either” said Nicolò at the end of the race in which he missed gold by just 7 hundredths. Nic Fink, the opponent to beat, started better than everyone, but halfway through the race Martinenghi took advantage of a drop in his pace to take the lead for a few moments. Unfortunately, in the last few strokes Williamson prevailed over everyone. There is a bit of bitterness but also a lot of joy for this double podium, in the 100m and the 50m breaststroke. A result that confirms the great condition of “Tete” and that makes us look to the next Olympics full of confidence and proud to be by his side. With all our passion and experience.
