Mads Pedersen: historic hat-trick at Gent-Wevelgem

The Danish champion claims his third victory in the Belgian classic with a bold solo move that leaves its mark.​

Mads Pedersen, standout rider for Team Lidl-Trek, wrote a memorable page in cycling history by winning Gent-Wevelgem for the third time. Launching a decisive attack on the penultimate ascent of the Mont Kemmel, 52 km from the finish line, Pedersen broke away from the peloton and held a significant lead all the way to Wevelgem. ​

The Dane completed the 250.3 km course in 5 hours, 30 minutes, and 21 seconds, at an average speed of 45.5 km/h. This triumph not only marks his second consecutive win in the race, but also cements his status as one of the most dominant riders in the spring classics.​The celebration for Team Lidl-Trek was made even sweeter by Jonathan Milan’s impressive third-place finish on the podium. ​
