Discipline: Ultra trail
Born: Ivrea in 1978

Franco Collè grew up at the foot of Monte Rosa where he cultivated a passion for the mountains and for all high-altitude sports since he was a child. Initiated into alpine skiing thanks to his parents and teachers, he discovered the magic of the mountain when he was about twenty years old, when he participated in the mythical Trofeo Mezzalama for the first time in 1999. This experience made him understand that it’s possible to reconcile a "hard" sport with the feeling of well-being that comes from alpine landscapes.
Crossing from ski mountaineering over to the world of ultra trail running was somewhat coincidental because the Tor des Géants passed in front of his house in Gressoney. It was in 2012 when his sister entered him in this race that he defined as "crazy".
Since then, he has run countless kilometres up and down the Alps and beyond. He has participated in five Tor des Géants and competed against the strongest athletes in the world without ever losing the pleasure of enjoying nature.
