Maratona dles Dolomites - Enel
Where: Corvara (BZ)
When: 7 July 2024
The first Maratona dles Dolomites took off on July 12, 1987. How many competitors? 166.
Thirty-six years have passed since then and the Maratona has never stopped. Today it’s one of the most spectacular granfondo races in the world. Over time it has achieved such fame that a lottery system had to be introduced. Of the 30,000 passionate cyclists who pre-registered for the event this year, only 8,000 lucky ones were able to win a bib to show up at the starting grid to dream – and sweat – on its climbs.
Every year the first Sunday in July sees participants compete on three different routes in the beautiful and picturesque setting of the UNESCO Dolomites National Park. The route touches legendary passes: the Campolongo, the Pordoi, the Sella Pass, the Gardena, the extremely tough Giau Pass, the Falzarego, and finally the Valparola. Let’s not forget the fearsome "Mür dl Giat" near the finish.
Starting from La Villa and finishing in Corvara, you can choose from:
- Sellaronda Course, 55 km with 1,780 m of elevation gain;
- Medium Couse, 106 km with 3,130 m of elevation gain;
