Barry Sears introduces the Zone Diet
The Zone is a nutritional strategy, known as the “Zone Diet”, developed by the American biochemist Barry Sears, which devotes particular attention to general wellbeing.
Barry Sears, a biochemist and the creator of the Zone Diet, started his scientific career as a researcher at the Boston University School of Medicine, followed by the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
From the very start the focus of his interest was fat, which he has researched extensively. In particular, he expanded his research on certain natural fats, leading him to register numerous patents worldwide for anti-cancer drugs. Following on his studies on lipids and the research by Bergstrom, Samuelsson and Vane, the winners of the 1982 Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine, Barry Sears went on to study a type of hormones, known as eicosanoids, and understand how their proper balance can be crucial for one's health and wellbeing.
Currently Barry Sears pursues his scientific research as the president of Zone Labs, a biotechnology company based in Danvers, Massachusetts. He is the president of the non-profit organization "Inflammation Research Foundation" in Marblehead, Massachusetts.
