To put the Zone diet into practice, two methods may be used: the hand method and the block method. The first is not precise but is very useful for those who want to follow the Zone diet without bothering to weigh food, and for when eating out. The other, on the other hand, is more accurate and allows you to really adapt to the Zone.
The hand method
The amount of protein should correspond to the volume (size and thickness) of your palm (without fingers)
The rest of the plate can be filled with vegetables (salad, tomatoes, spinach, aubergines, etc.)
Fruit-derived carbohydrates must correspond to the volume of two of your fists. Or, if consuming bread, pasta, rice, etc., the volume of one fist.
The name of this method comes from having to assess food portions by using your own hand.
