Vasaloppet is the world’s oldest and biggest cross-country ski race. It has a rich history and tradition; hundreds of thousands of skiers have tackled the 90 km stretch from Sälen to Mora since the start in 1922. Rigorous training and careful preparation is needed to complete this 90 km challenge. It is a race with classic technique along a magical landscape, followed by two million television viewers in Sweden alone. Now is the time to rise to the challenge!
In order for Vasaloppet to continue as a driving force for exercise and public health in a safe way during the ongoing pandemic, this will be the program for 2021. Tjejvasan on Saturday, February 27, and Vasaloppet on Sunday, March 7, 2021 will run as elite competitions without spectators on location. For all other skiers we're launching Vasaåket 2021, replacing the standard races in the 90-kilometre Vasaloppet Arena between Sälen and Mora where you can ski in the open arena whenever you want. Everyone is invited to complete Vasaåket on location, based on the applicable Swedish guidelines – between Friday, February 12 up until Sunday, March 7.
