IN SHAPE AT THE RESTAURANT, IN A PIZZERIA OR A FAST-FOOD RESTAURANT

When asked "Shall we go out for dinner this evening?" many people answer "I can't, I’m on a diet." Why give up a pleasant evening in the company of friends, when all it takes is to follow a suitable food strategy away from home, with a few, simple rules?

When asked "Shall we go out for dinner this evening?" many people answer "I can't, I’m on a diet." Why give up a pleasant evening in the company of friends, when all it takes is to follow a suitable food strategy away from home, with a few, simple rules?

In restaurants
Do not start eating breadsticks and bread as soon as you sit down and while waiting to be served.
As a starter, you can order a dish with cured meats (uncooked ham or bresaola) and raw or cooked vegetables.
Do not choose first dishes with very elaborate sauces or dips that are rich in fats.
Pasta and rice portions should not be too big.
Go for lean meats and fish cooked in the simplest way – roasted, grilled or oven-baked.
Good side dishes are mixed salads, cooked or grilled vegetables, with extra virgin olive oil as dressing.
As a dessert, you can have fruit or fruit ice cream.

In a pizzeria
While you wait for your pizza, you can order a starter such as seafood salad or lean, uncooked ham.
Fruit salad is a good dessert.

In a fast-food restaurant
Sandwiches with meat or chicken, salad, tomato and ketchup are fine, but avoid mayonnaise.
Alternatively, go for a mixed salad with tuna, boiled egg or mozzarella.
Avoid sweet, carbonated drinks.
End your meal with fruit salad.
